Cliff College is an approved partner of The University of Manchester, delivering this programme developed by Cliff College, approved by and leading to an award of The University of Manchester: BA (Hons) Theology and Ministry. It is a full-time programme, and most of our students are residential. It is, however, possible to undertake part-time study if you live close enough to the College to attend regular lectures.

The programme offers a solid foundation in theology and biblical studies, with a mixture of core and optional units including Biblical Theology, Theology in the Contemporary World, Introduction to the Old Testament, New Testament Exegesis, and Introduction to Church History. But it also includes practical instruction and experience in mission and ministry, with units such as Introduction to Christian Leadership, Mission Placement, Missiology, and Public Theology. For a full list of what is offered at each level, please follow the links on the side.

What do students say?

‘The BA theology programme is a fantastic way of learning from God both academically and devotionally. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to grow alongside fellow Christians in their understanding of God.’

‘BA theology has opened my mind to many questions and enhanced my understanding of faith and truth. It’s a privilege to be studying in such a beautiful and peaceful part of the world.’

‘I feel like I’ve grown in my faith and maturity in just a few weeks. I can’t begin to describe how thankful I am for my time at Cliff.’

‘The BA Theology programme has provided fresh soil for me to grow strong roots into evangelism and mission. I look forward to sharing these opportunities and experiences with others on our first year of the programme.’

Employment opportunities

Students with a BA (Hons) in Theology and Ministry are able to enjoy a range of careers following the completion of their studies. The majority of our students choose to work in some kind of Christian capacity. Many work for churches as youth and children’s workers, lay workers, community workers, evangelists, pastoral workers and so on. Others choose to work for Christian charities in policy departments, or in fundraising and event organising. Students who do this degree are also eligible to study for a PGCE to become a teacher, and each year some students choose this route. Others pursue further study, such as an MA or PhD, and some explore a wide range of other graduate professions.

We’re happy to be partnering with MiDrive in order to give our students a discounted opportunity to learn to drive while studying at Cliff, as part of their preparation for employment. For more information on MiDrive, please visit their website:
