Cliff College has seen a series of significant developments throughout the campus, over the last five years, as bedrooms with shared facilities and dormitory rooms have been converted to provide high-quality en-suite facilities for students and guests.

Both part-time and full-time students are able to enjoy their stay in modern bedrooms, whilst being part of the older heritage that is evident in such areas as the College chapel, the Library and Lecture Room 3

Accommodation is in en-suite rooms which are situated in the main college building.  A typical room is shown in the photograph opposite.

First-year students are required to use one of these rooms and to take meals in Chadwick’s refectory. Specific dietary requirements can be catered for. Details of residential charges can be found at Full-time fees.

There are a number of flats and houses on campus which can be rented and these provide self-catering facilities. Details of charges are available by contacting Finance Department.

There is also a student kitchen in the main college building which has a rooftop terrace to sit and eat out on – weather permitting! Due to space in the kitchen, the number of users is limited.

BA Mission & Ministry, Post-Graduate and Short Course students

Students attending intensive teaching weeks or short courses are accommodated in Broadbelt-Eagles, Annie Douglas House or the Stanton centre. Meals are provided in Chadwick’s refectory.

Annie Douglas House was opened in 2015 and has 18 en-suite rooms, modern facilities and stunning views. Broadbelt-Eagles has been completely redesigned to provide 21 en-suite rooms, a fully equipped lecture room, lounge area and a roof terrace. The Stanton centre has 9 en-suite rooms.

Full-time postgraduate students may also request the use of one of the flats or houses on campus.

Davies Lecture Room

Lecture Rooms

All the Cliff Lecture rooms have modern presentation equipment in, which allows for a variety of lecturing styles depending on the lecturer and area of study! Students can access WiFi in all rooms, so getting access to the college VLE for study resources and lecture notes is simple.

The Belben Library is well-stocked and resourced and run by our experienced Librarian, Sarah. It is constantly updated with current journals, publications and other literary material, and is well coordinated with the programmes of study, to ensure students have access to all the necessary research materials for their coursework. For more information on the Belben library, please navigate to the library pages.

Study Rooms

In the last few years, while the college accommodation has been refurbished, we’ve also made sure the study areas aren’t neglected, and students can choose to work in several spaces in college as well as their accommodation. There are computer and printing facilities available, and Postgraduate, and Mission & Ministry students also have their own devoted spaces for study, with subject specific resources available for their use.

The Cliff community is one of the things that appeal to many students, as we are not just a place to study, but also a place to live, share, relate and commune with the others that live in the college and its surrounding area. Many students make friends for life and remember their time at Cliff as being formative in many diverse ways, not just in attaining qualifications.

The college chapel is at the heart of the main buildings and is the main place we meet in for our daily prayers, and for our weekly celebration services, open to all at the college and the wider community. Students also often arrange their own times of prayer, reflection and worship, some of which take place in the chapel, whilst on other occasions, they use other spaces in college.

Worship styles can take many different forms, and students and staff are not afraid to try new things in worship. To aid this, and to equip worship leading we have a well stocked Audio Visual department.

Common Room

The recently refurbished Common Room is where most students choose to relax in the evenings, as well as being a space available for groups to meet and the typical home for the weekly college meetings, where the full-time students meet for any upcoming events and notices that need to be circulated. The Common Room has a large TV, sofas and chairs, table football, and is usually the hub of the student social life, whether it is an event, a regular gathering or just a place to hang out.

The small but well-equipped Gym is the place for fitness freaks – or those aspiring to it! The Gym is open between 7 am and 10 pm and can be accessed with your bedroom keycard. Non-residential students can also request access and will be issued with a key card for this.
